Water leaks onto the floor during showers, what can be done
This is gonna be a long one, so bear with me... l just moved
into a new apartment that l happen to be the very first tenant of. Lucky
me, right? Well, not totally. Among the 10 is of other problems I've come
across...after l shower, there is a lake of water on the bathroom floor
that l do not know how to prevent. Here is what is
happening...The bathroom has a ton of marble, the floor, and the walls
where a shower/bath enclosure would normally be are all marble. When the bathtub was installed, they left about 3'' between the wall with the faucet and the tub. There is about 1-2'' on the side, and maybe 10-12'' in the back. The tub and the walls are connected by more marble which is all sealed and is fine...but it sits about half an inch below the height of the tub. So, the water that hits the walls and runs down, all collects in this little area and drains out around the tub and onto my floor. /> So, my question is: Is there any way of preventing this, short of putting up another shower curtain along the walls?I am sure someone else has run into this problem...do they make some kind of product that deflects the water straight into the tub or something? />Thanks! wanna: It is not that the shower head is pointed towards the wall, it is just the water that bounces off your body when it hits you. l already pointed it pretty far over and it is lessened the amount of water that collects, but it is still a lot. db: Yes, of course l have a landlord and he is aware of the numerous other things that plague this apartment. But, when he stopped by to check those things out,the gas had not been turned on yet, so l had not used the shower yet and was unaware of this particular issue. I am not sure anything can even be done by him about it without having to rip apart the bathroom...
OK EASY DB!!! calm down big fella! I sense a little hostility
here. WHEW!!!! take a moment to breathe here.in.out.in..
DB is right though. ur landlord really needs to be aware of this
potentially dangerous(slip & fall hazard) & structurally damaging
situation.
if the water is running out the corners of the tub, there are deflectors
available at ur local home improvement store. they're a triangle kinda thing that glues to the tub & the wall. Your landlord should also be made aware of this so that he can have whoever created this situation fix it. I am sure he paid good money for the work. he should get his moneys worth. so should you. peace & good luck
You are a rent-paying tenant -- the first in a NEW apartment, &
you are having problems such as you have described?!? You *DO* have a
landlord!! -- Right?!? Have you talked with him or her in very *firm*
tones of protest about the *wrong* things existing in ur ''new''
apartment? It is NOT something that *you* should have to deal with fixing.
There HAS to be some recourse for you to take to get the landlord to make the necessary steps to have the wrongs *righted* as quickly as possible.
It looks like the extra shower curtain may be the answer for
you. However, you may also want to consider adjusting the shower head so
it does not hit that wall when you shower.
Hi...that is a rough one with-out seeing it...think I would
lift the marble and put it on a slope to the tub....no matter what you do
you are going to have to keep it dry all the time...or something is going
to rot on you in a hurry. Sorry...your on the right track with the
deflector...butttttttttt???
